As a ethno-historical museum, the Museum of the Sea has a duty to ensure the heritage protection of the Magdalen Islands, located in the heart of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Same results in the research, conservation, development, distribution, and education, especially under the maritime and insular footprint that conditions the life of the Islanders.


Strong of its past while facing the future, the Museum of the Sea wants to be a dynamic and proactive institution that contributes to the influence of the Magdalen Islands culture. Also part of it’s goals is to strengthening the sense of belonging of the new generations with their history and environment.
